How to Drop In on In-Line Skates | Rollerblading

Hi, I’m Tim Phang. I’m 23 years old. I’ve been skating for about 12 years. I’m from Arlington, Virginia which is right
outside of Washington, D.C. I’m now sponsored by Universal Skate Design,
and I’m going to be talking to you about rollerblading. ‘Dropping In’ is one of those basic things
you can do at a skate park. It’s usually done on half pipes and quarter
pipes. Basically what your going to do is approach
the ramp, and place one foot on the coping which is the rail at the top of the ramp. You’re going to want to put the coping in
between your center two wheels with the other foot slightly behind. That’ll keep you from dropping in before you’re
ready. When you are ready, you’re going to want to
lift up that other foot and lean forward. When you’re dropping in on a quarter pipe,
it’s really important that you keep your weight forward because it’s super easy to have your
feet slip out from under you which will end up having you hit your tailbone or jamming
your wrist in the ground. You want to make sure that you’re leaning
forward enough that you keep your forward momentum and carry it into the bottom of the
half pipe or quarter pipe. When you’re dropping in, one of the most important
things is to remember skate park etiquette. It’s really easy because of the nature of
dropping in, that you can end up, essentially, as soon as you lift that other foot up, you’re
fully committed into dropping into the object so you want to make sure that the half pipe
or the immediate area at the bottom of quarter pipe is clear before you go. Also, it’s important when you’re waiting to
drop in that you not keep your foot on the coping at all times. You want to stand back to leave the other
skaters enough space so that they decide that they are going to grind you’re not in their
way.

I could i already do this just like your vids 🙂 Where im afraid of : Waxed Copings Solution? im just jumping in 😛

I'm 25 and I just can't get into skating. Don't you feel pisssed when you go past the park and some Lil 9 year old
Is dominating the ramps. If they can then we can !!

this isn't how I drop in. I do it by standing just behind the coping and basically taking a step onto the ramp, rolling for about half a second, then placing my other foot of the ramp and rolling away.
