Roller Derby Edges

Roller Derby Edges

When doing stationary edges practice shifting
your weight back and forth between outside edge of right skate and inside edge of left
skate. Then switch sides and do outside edge of left skate and inside edge of right. Moving
edges start by shifting your weight onto your left leg and use your inside edge of your
right skate and then switch your weight to the right leg; then use inside edge of left
skate repeat with outside edges; switch your weight back to your left leg and use outside
edge of your right skate and then switch weight to your right leg and use outside edge of
your left skate. Exaggerated edge, pick up toe and shift weight to outside and then inside
edge of right skate; then pick up heel and shift weight to outside pinky edge and inside
big toe edge of right skate; then switch feet and pick up heel of left skate and shift weight
to inside big toe and outside pinky toe edge of left skate; then pick up toe and shift
weight to outside of heel and then inside of heel edge on your left skate. Side view,
shift weight to outside edge of right skate and notice my left skate move forward; then
switch weight to inside edge of right skate and notice my left skate move back; then switch
your weight to outside edge of your left skate and notice my right skate move forward; switch
weight to inside edge of left skate and notice my right skate move back and these are the
different types of edge work.
