I really like that kid…it´s just a shame that he skated right after Keegan "Speedy" Messing as this made him look VERY slow, sometimes I even got the impression I was on slow motion. 😉

Obviously very talented young guy, I just think that labeling him "the future" puts pressure and he hasn't even got a growth spurt.
I just remember once people said the same things about Nam Ngyuen and Roman Sadovsky and see how much they struggled in past years with growth.
Stephen is great I just keep fingers crossed pressure and growth won't get in his way.

i hear a lot of people say they dislike this program. it is very juniorish, but he IS a junior. the technical issues with his lutz are worrying but honestly the hype is deserved in all other respects, because he may well be able to grow into a more mature skater. only time will tell. but for where he's at right now, he's just incredible!

I guess teenaged skaters, boys in particular, more or less have to re-learn their jumps every year as their bodies grow. The centre of gravity is always changing.

Rod Black is so Cringy as an announcer, always adding crazy adjectives to his explanation – and I agree with @eniaSemenovaFan, these announcers put pressure on these skaters with all their expectations they use describing them, look what happend to Cynthia Phaneuf!

This boy has the talent and probably the drive. Let's just hope he doesn't turn out to be another Tracey Wainman "disaster"….

jeez times have changed…at 14 I had inconsistent "double" loops and double axels…nothing even approaching a triple let alone a quad…Kudos Stephen Gogolev…beyond impressive.

I love Tracy Wilson but as commentator with that guy they are so “Canadian” they are so cringe worthy for God sake. why can these people be natural and not super biased and over excited uma very artificial way.
I prefer the any european commentator to American and Canadian ones.
And the pressure they are putting in this omg is he was Russian they would be passive aggressive on him for sure

Silver medalist at 14? Wow! Way to go! I admit I am mesmerized by his skating, like I know he will hit all his jumps and interpret his music well. I see this young man going down in Canadian history as multiple champion for nationals, worlds and Olympics. Look out all you other male skaters out there!

I was about to say, his program and the way he skates is very Russian. Reminds me of a young yagudin or plushenko! But of course if he trained in Russia and his parents are Russian, this makes sense! He’s my kind of skater!!

When people of different talents and nations come together…..the results are amazing, awe inspiring. Imagine all of us coming together only for the good of nations, Imagine 😉 Actually see for yourself in the exceptional performance of Stephen Gogolev. Bravo

Extraordinary skating ! I hope to see more of him in the coming years. One of our French 15-year-old juniors has the same abilities, while Russian 13-year-olds do the same. The next international competitions are going to be fantastic !

The broadcasters are trying to push him like this was a WWE pay per view. He is incredible for his age, but at this level he is too slow, too weak and lacks the charisma and emotional depth to truly perform. Seems nice enough, but boy are fans being conditioned to accept a narrative and some high projections.

He's 4 years younger than I am and can already do 3A while I'm still trying to master 2A. Wow and those landing from the jumps were amazing. So calm and easy looking. Respect

He’s still a boy, so he hasn’t “filled out” muscle-wise yet. Once he matures into a man, he’ll be a lot stronger and faster on the ice, a talent that will challenge the Russians and Japanese.
