Teenage boy turns himself in for Essex hit and run


POLICE ARE CALLING THIS AN ISOLATED INCIDENT AND NOT SEARCHING FOR ANY SUSPECTS. A TEENAGER HAS TURNED HIMSELF IN FOR HITTING A CHILD WITH AN SUV AND FLEEING THE SCENE. THE VICTIM IS FIVE YEARS OLD. ON SATURDAY, POLICE SAY HE WAS CROSSING SOUTH MARYLAND AVENUE WITH A GROUP OF FRIENDS WHEN HE WAS HIT. BECAUSE THE SUSPECT IS A JUVENILE, POLICE ARE NOT RELEASING HIS NAME. THE SPEED LIMIT ON THIS PORTION OF SOUTH MARYLAND AVENUE IS 25 MILES AN HOUR. RESIDENTS HARDLY EVER SEE ANYONE GOING THAT SLOW. THERE SHOULD BE A LIGHT. THIS IS A HIGH TRAFFIC AREA, ESPECIALLY KIDS.
